SRINAGAR, Nov 16: CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam M.Y. Tarigami today called for a transparent investigation into the Delhi and Nowgam incidents, saying the tragedy has shaken public trust and raised serious questions about administrative handling.
Speaking to reporters, Tarigami said the loss of lives has left families devastated. “Those who have gone will not come back, but at least there will be hope if there is transparency in administrative matters. It is a very sad incident,” he said.

Tarigami questioned whether the incident could have been prevented. “Our people have seen a lot of destruction. The circumstances are telling us this is a sad incident. Could this have been avoided? In our opinion, yes,” he said.
He said an investigation could have been conducted in Faridabad and questioned the need to bring the case to the Valley. “Now doubts have arisen. So it is necessary to have a probe so that facts come forward. This will also create transparency in administration,” he said, adding that a fair investigation is essential to restore the public’s weakening trust in institutions.
Referring to the recent suicide of a man from Kazigund after both his sons were arrested, Tarigami said the circumstances must be probed thoroughly. He reiterated that all incidents connected to the Delhi case should be investigated “so that such incidents do not occur again.”
Tarigami also cautioned against generalizing blame on the medical fraternity amid allegations involving some doctors. “If some elements go down the wrong path, it does not mean the entire community of doctors should be suspected,” he said. Kashmir’s doctors, he noted, “have earned fame throughout the country.”
Emphasizing the need for due process, he said action should follow only after evidence is established. “We can get out of this bubble only by the rule of law. The law should not be violated at any level,” he said, urging authorities to ensure fairness and transparency in every step of the probe.
