Srinagar Oct 30: Police today lodged an FIR against relative of a political leader for beating up an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) of traffic police on busy Moulana Azad Road here.
Police said that a Maruti Festa car was stopped by traffic police on M A Road as its driver Shafiq Qureshi was using his cell phone while driving. When the traffic police was about to challan him, he called some one and in the no time another car carrying a couple of security guards beat up the traffic cops including the ASI Abdul Rehman.
The ASI was taken to Police Hospital for treatment. Police later registered FIR against Qureshi in Police Station Kothi Bagh for attacking on duty Government servant and seized his car. Qureshi is said to be close relative of a politician.
