Srinagar, Jan 15: Police in Bandipora today said that it has recovered Rs 5.50 lakh and 19 smartphones worth Rs 3 lakh in online financial fraud cases in the district.
Authorities said that the police received multiple complaints from the general public regarding various financial frauds, missing or stolen mobile phones, and other social media crimes.
Acting on these complaints, police achieved a significant breakthrough by recovering an amount of Rs 5.50 lakh from fraudsters’ accounts.
“The same was refunded to victims’ bank accounts after completion of all legal formalities,” police said.
“Moreover, 19 missing/stolen smartphones worth Rs 3 lakhs were also recovered and handed over to their owners after completion of necessary legal formalities,” police added.
