Police solve two theft cases; recover gold ornaments, 13 stolen motorcycles in Chinore

JAMMU, Feb 4: Jammu and Kashmir Police have solved two separate theft cases in Chinore area here, leading to the arrest of accused persons and the recovery of stolen gold ornaments and motorcycles.
A police official said in the first case, Police Post Chinore received a written complaint on November 27, 2025, from one Abdul Hafeez, resident of Thather, Bantalab, Jammu, who reported a burglary at his house.
Quoting the complaint, the police official said the complainant stated that unknown persons had broken into his residence and stolen gold ornaments weighing about 20 tolas.
Following the complaint, he said, FIR No. 248/2025 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Domana, and the investigation was taken up by PSI Arjun Singh, Incharge Police Post Chinore.
During the investigation, he said, several suspects were questioned.
After sustained efforts, the police team identified and arrested three accused persons, namely Bhader Ali of Keran, Ban Tallab, Jammu, Bunty of Bhagwati Nagar, Tallab Tillo, and Riyaz Ahmed of Thather, Ban Tallab, Jammu, he said.
On the basis of their disclosure statements, stolen gold ornaments weighing about 15 tolas, equivalent to nearly 150 grams, were recovered and taken into possession as per procedure, the police official said.
He said further recoveries are likely, and the investigation is continuing.
According to him, one of the accused was found to be a habitual offender with multiple theft cases registered against him at different police stations.
In another case, the police official said, a complaint was lodged on January 10, 2026, by one Rakesh Kumar of Gurha Brahmana, Ban Talab, Jammu, regarding the theft of his Bullet motorcycle, which was stolen during the night from outside his house.
Acting on the complaint, he said, FIR No. 12/2026 was registered at Police Station Domana, and the case was also investigated by PSI Arjun Singh.
During the investigation, the police apprehended one accused person, namely Bagh Hussain of Charka, Bhaderwah, at present RS Pura, he said, adding that on his disclosure, the stolen Bullet motorcycle was recovered.
In addition, twelve more stolen motorcycles were recovered from his possession, he said.
Police said further investigation is in progress and more arrests and recoveries are expected in the case.
