SURANKOTE, Sept 17: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining, District Police Poonch today seized one JCB and five vehicles engaged in unlawful extraction of minor minerals from river Suran near Dhundak temple.
On a specific information, a Police party from Surankote, led by SHO Surankote, Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani under the supervision of SDPO Ajaz Ahmed Choudhary during the operation, seized one JCB machine, one Tipper, and four tractor trolleys that were found involved in illegal mining activities.
The swift action was taken to curb the menace of illegal extraction, which causes environmental damage and revenue loss to the government. The Mining Department has been informed for further necessary action under relevant laws.
