KATHUA, Apr 24: Kathua police today recovered contraband like substance along with illicit liquor.
Police said a joint team of District Special Branch (DSB) and team of Police Station (PS) Kathua during naka checking in its jurisdictional area near Budhi, apprehended one suspect namely Raj Kumar alias Raju, son of Shakhi of Budhi tehsil and district Kathua.
On physical checking, 95pouches of illicit liquor along with 19grams of cannabis like contraband and cash amount of Rs. 44750 was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and contraband seized by the police party on spot.
A case vide FIR No. 194/2021 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act, 48 (A) Excise Act stands registered in the Kathua Police Station and further investigation has been initiated.
The Kathua police on the directives of SSP, Romesh Chander Kotwal and under the supervision of Bisham Dubey DySP has intensified its drive against the drug peddlers, bovine smugglers and mining mafia in the district. It has also sought the cooperation of general public in this regard appealing them to share any information about these elements with police to make society crime free.
