SHOPIAN, Oct 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian district have seized seven vehicles for their alleged involvement in illegal mining of minerals from Rambiara Nallah, Keegam, and Heerpora areas.
Among the seized vehicles are five tractors, one tipper, and one dumper.
According to officials, four tractors were seized by Police Station Shopian for operating without valid royalty documents.
In this regard, they said, FIR number 218/2025 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Similarly, Police Post Keegam seized a dumper (JK19-7825) without valid documents and registered FIR number 217/2025 under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Shopian, they said.
Officials further said that in another action, Police Station Heerpora seized one tipper and one tractor for similar violations, registering FIR number 48/2025 under the relevant sections of the law.
Police said the drive aimed at curbing illegal mining and protect natural resources in the district.
