SAMBA, Dec 18: District Police Samba today foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing nine animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal.
Acting on reliable information, a police party of Police Post (PP) Rajpura while performing vehicle checking duty in Rajpura area, signaled a Load Carrier without registration number to stop which was coming from Kathua side via Border Road Rajpura and moving towards Kashmir Valley.
On seeing the police party, the driver accelerated the speed of the vehicle and crossed the Naka point. After being chased by the cops, the driver abandoned the vehicle few meters away from the naka point and managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, four cattle were found laden inside it without any permission.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 216/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station (PS) Ghagwal and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, a police party of PS Ghagwal rescued five more bovines at Main Chowk, Ghagwal which were being transported in a Mahindra Bolero with registration number JK08B/4980 coming from Kathua side and moving towards Kashmir Valley.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 217/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
All the bovines in both incidents were rescued and shifted to safer place. Both the vehicle used for transportation of bovines were also seized on spot.
