Police rescues 4 hunters, one still missing

KATHUA, Mar 10: Four hunters were rescued by a police party from Duggal Police Post in Bani tehsil of Kathua district and youth from the area out of five hunters today who had gone for hunting in the deep hilly area of Sarthal Valley linking Bhadarwah on last Saturday from  Lohang area in Bani and were reported missing since then.
As the family members and relatives of the hunters brought the matter in the notice of SDM Bani, Ajit Singh issued instructions to police to launch the search operations for the missing hunters and a team of police men and local volunteers led by SI Naresh Kumar incharge PP Duggal went in the direction of Sarthal Valley to trace them and after a lot of search they rescued the four hunters from the avalanche in Mandi Dar area of Sarthal this morning.
However one of them is still reported missing. The statement of the four hunters said that they managed to cross the river but Darshan could not do so and they fear that he might have been buried under snow avalanche as heavy snowfall was reported in this hilly belt during last over three days.
The injured hunters were admitted in SDH Bani as they had received injuries. While three of them were discharged by this evening after giving first aid one namely Hyder Ali, son of Hassan Ali is still undergoing treatment in the Hospital.
The missing hunter has been identified as Darshan Lal S/o Leelu. The police have however abandoned the rescue operation in view of bad weather conditions.
The other hunters who were rescued included Mohammed Farid, S/o Mohammed Sharief, Harbans Lal S/o Jeevan Lal and Rehman Alam, S/o Ibrahim.
