JAMMU, Dec 21: The police recruitment in the J&K State has been conducted recently purely as per the guidelines from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
An official spokesman from PHQ here said that Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt of India, sanctioned five IRP Battalions to J&K State. The MHA with the specific directions, conveyed to the J&K PHQ vide letter No. 16011/10/2011-PF.IV dated 10-2-2016, that for the recruitment of these five Battalions, 60 % of the posts shall be kept for 11 border districts and 40 % for the other remaining districts in the State.
Accordingly, 60 % of the sanctioned posts of the Constables were distributed among identified border districts on the basis of population percentage. As per the census, population of Jammu province is 53,50,811 ( 2011), and therefore, out of 4340 posts, 1896 posts were allotted to Jammu province and Kashmir province having population of 71,98,115 was allotted 2444 posts. Kathua border district was allotted, 233, Samba 121, Jammu 578, Rajouri 234, Poonch, 181, Doda 125, Kishtwar 71, Ramban 87, Udhampur 170 and Reasi 96.
In Kashmir, Budgam was allotted 286 posts, Baramulla 384, Kupwara 331, Bandipora 146, Leh 56, Kargil 54, Srinagar, 383, Ganderbal 91, Anantnag 328, Pulwama 174, Kulgam 130 and Shopian 81.
Spokesman further said that in addition to 4340 posts of 5 IRP Battalions, 386 posts of Armed Police and 655 posts of Executive Police which were vacant at that time were advertised and distributed as per population percentage of census 2011. Out of these total 1041 posts, 445 posts were allotted to Jammu province and 596 to Kashmir.
