JAMMU, Jan 28: Police here today claimed they have recovered gold ornaments worth around Rs 50 lakh in connection with a theft case at the Game Changer showroom in the Pacca Danga area of Jammu.
Addressing media persons at Police Station Pacca Danga, Superintendent of Police, Jammu North, Vivek Shekhar Sharma said the investigation was launched immediately after the theft was reported on September 20, 2025.
He said the CCTV footage from the showroom and nearby areas was analysed, which revealed the involvement of two non-local women in the incident.
The SP Jammu North said police teams used technical surveillance, mobile call detail records, location data, social media monitoring and other scientific inputs to trace the suspects. Click here to watch video
He said the investigation eventually led the police to Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh.
Acting on credible information, multiple raids were conducted at different locations in the district, which resulted in the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments, he said.
However, the accused women managed to flee during the operation and are currently absconding, the police officer said.
A police team, however, has been stationed in the area to track and apprehend them, while another team has returned to Jammu with the recovered case property, the SP Jammu North added.
According to him, the case pertains to a complaint lodged on September 20, 2025 by one Shanu Manhas, who alleged that her purse was stolen while she was shopping at the Game Changer showroom in Pacca Danga. The purse reportedly contained gold ornaments valued at around Rs 50 lakh.
Following the complaint, the SP Jammu North, said, FIR number 108/2025 under relevant sections of BNS was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga.
He said raids were also conducted earlier at various locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana.
Posters of the accused were also circulated and assistance was sought from social media and news channels, he said, adding that further investigation is underway.
