JAMMU, Nov 22: Jammu Police, South Zone, has intensified its offensive against the commercial supply chain of narcotics, achieving two significant breakthroughs within the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
In the first incident, a police team from Police Post Nehru Market, while on routine patrolling duty in the Ware House area, established a naka near Tawi River Front Gate, Chunna Bhatti Road.
During the operation, the team intercepted and arrested a drug peddler, Mohd Younas S/o Faizal Ahmed R/o Ganganagar, near Convent School, Bantalab. A search led to the recovery of a transparent polythene packet containing 18.35 grams of heroin from his possession.
In this regard, FIR Number 254/2025 under Section 111 BNS and Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. Further investigation is underway to determine his connection to wider drug networks.
Meanwhile, in a parallel development linked to FIR Number 249/2025, which had earlier led to one of the region’s largest seizures-3 kg 260 grams of heroin and the arrest of two key accused-the investigation team achieved another breakthrough.
During sustained questioning, accused Karan Sharma S/o Gopal Das Sharma R/o Jourian, Akhnoor A/P Trikuta Nagar, disclosed information about additional contraband hidden at another location.
Acting promptly on this input, the police recovered 278 grams of heroin from his scrap shop in Preet Nagar, further exposing the organized and commercial-scale nature of the illegal trafficking network.
