JAMMU, Dec 31: Police here today claimed to have successfully recovered and returned 200 lost and stolen smartphones to their rightful owners under Operation “Re-CONNECT”.
The recovered smartphones, valued at around Rs 50 lakh, were handed over during a function held at District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, which was presided over by SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh.

Addressing media persons, the SSP Jammu said the recovery drive was carried out over the past one month by the specialised technical teams of South Zone, Headquarters Zone and Cyber Police Station Jammu.
He said the teams traced and recovered the missing phones from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir as well as other States.
According to him, all the smartphones had earlier been reported missing at various police stations in Jammu district.
Senior officers present at the function included SP Headquarters Jammu, SP Operations Jammu, SP Rural Jammu, SP South Jammu, DySP DAR Jammu, and other district police officers.
The ceremony witnessed emotional moments as owners were reunited with their phones, many of which contained important personal data, memories and essential information.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Jammu & Kashmir Police and appreciated the dedication and hard work of the police teams.
Police officials clarified that all smartphones were returned only after proper verification of identity documents and mobile purchase bills, ensuring the devices reached their lawful owners.
On the occasion, SP Headquarters Jammu also advised the public to take steps to secure their smartphones.
He stressed the importance of using strong passwords, updated software, remote tracking features and two-factor authentication to protect personal data and prevent future losses.
