KATRA, Aug 6: The police nabbed an inter-state drug-peddler and recovered some quantity of heroin, cash and a weapon from his possession in Katra area today.
Official sources said that during a naka in Katra area, one suspicious individual coming on foot towards Katra was intercepted by police team. He was identified as Vicky Singh, son of Poppy Singh, resident of Ward No. 12/B, Bazigar Basti, Dhuri, district Sangrur, Punjab.
On thorough search, 4.70 grams of heroin, one sharp-edged weapon (Khokri), and cash amounting to Rs 15,000 were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 223/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is in progress to unearth the backward and forward links of the drug network.
The accused is believed to be an inter-state drug peddler and was likely attempting to push narcotics into the holy town of Katra. The operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Katra, Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Katra Dr Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran.
