JAMMU, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Zone carried out a special drive to inspect SIM card vendor shops across the area.
A statement said that the drive aimed at ensuring strict compliance with telecom regulations and prevent any misuse of mobile connections.
It said the SHOs and Incharge Police Posts led the inspections, physically visiting each shop and checking all records related to the issuance of SIM cards.
Vendors were asked to maintain proper documentation of customer details, including valid identity proofs, to meet telecom and security guidelines.
Shops inspected included Mobile Ware near Varmani, Jai Enterprises at Nanak Nagar, Badwal Complications near RK Playway School, Mobile Shop opposite Varmani Mall, and Airtel Shop in Sainik Colony. Other shops like Wani Communication, RK Communications, Topper Choice, Jai Guru Ji Communication, Ashirbad Communication, Rajan Communication at Rohi Morh, Prince Communication, and Surinder Communication in Gadigarh were also covered.
The shopkeepers were clearly told to update and preserve their records as per norms.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police have reiterated that such drives will continue to plug any misuse of SIM cards and to keep mobile services secure and lawful.
