Police foils bovine smuggling bid, rescues 4 animals

SAMBA, Apr 24: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba and rescued four bovines. The vehicle used for illegal transportation of bovines was also seized.
An information was received at Police Post (PP), Supwal of PS Samba from reliable sources regarding smuggling of bovines in a Mahindra Load Carrier bearing Registration Number JK02CN-0704. Acting on information, a police team headed by Incharge PP Supwal under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas successfully intercepted the said vehicle near Barian and during checking, four bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 118/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
