DODA, Feb 21: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued five bovine animals.
Cops from Police Station Assar, led by HC Mohd Maroof Ahmed, while on routine patrolling duty at Trungal, Assar area, intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK06B-4351, which was coming from Thana Pani and moving towards Batote.
On noticing cops, driver of the vehicle fled from the spot, abandoning the vehicle. Upon thorough checking of the vehicle, five bovine animals were found loaded in it which were being transported without food and water and in a cruel manner in violation of the law.
Accordingly, FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 223 of BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered at Police Station Assar and investigation started.
