DODA, Nov 25: Doda Police today successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt in the Assar area, rescuing 13 bovine animals from a vehicle bearing registration number JK17A-1101.
The incident occurred during routine naka checking at Assar, when the police team from Police Station Assar signalled the vehicle to stop.
Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver managed to flee from the spot, abandoning both the vehicle and the animals.
All 13 bovines were safely rescued and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
Considering the gravity of the offence and its potential impact on law and order, the police immediately communicated with the ARTO Kishtwar, seeking suspension or cancellation of the vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) and Route Permit.
Acting promptly, ARTO Kishtwar,Tasleem Wani issued orders for the suspension of both the RC and route permit of the offending vehicle.
Police have initiated further investigation to trace the accused involved in the smuggling attempt.
