RAJOURI, Dec 15: In a commendable display of vigilance and prompt action the Rajouri Police team led by SHO Thannamandi Inspector Hilal Azhar under the supervision of SSP Rajouri, Gourav Sikarwar ensured the interception of an illegal bovine smuggling attempt during early morning today.
Official sources said that a vehicle (Junga) bearing registration number JK11F-5872 was stopped at a police checkpoint near Upper Bridge, Thannamandi. Upon inspection it was found to be transporting 25 bovine animals illegally towards Kashmir without valid permission.
The driver identified as Mohd Danish, son of Mohd Farooq a resident of Khablan managed to flee under the cover of darkness. However, the vehicle was seized and the bovines were safely rescued .
The Police team was led by SHO Thannamandi Hilal Azhar whose effective leadership and strategic planning played a pivotal role in foiling the smuggling attempt.
The police registered FIR No 185/2024 under Section 223 BNS and 11 of the PCA Act at Thannamandi Police Station. Further investigation is underway to apprehend the driver and uncover any links to larger smuggling networks.
Speaking about the incident SSP Gourav Sikarwar reaffirmed the police’s zero-tolerance policy towards bovine smuggling stating. Such illegal activities not only violates the law but also disrupt communal harmony and peace in the region. The Rajouri police is fully committed to ensuring that such acts are curbed at the root. Our teams are working round the clock to prevent any unlawful activities and to safeguard the rights of every individual and animal in the district, he added.
