Police foils 2 bovine smuggling bids, rescues 14 animals

SAMBA, Apr 22: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has foiled two bovines smuggling attempt, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued 14 bovines.
Police said an information was received at Police Post (PP) Mansar of PS Samba from reliable sources regarding smuggling of bovines by foot in the area. Acting on information, a police team headed by incharge PP Mansar foiled bovine smuggling attempt near Mansar, arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued four bovines which were being smuggled by foot.
The arrested bovine smuggler has been identified as Sharuf Khan son of Mohd. Altaf Khan of Bariangan Uttarsoo district Anantnag.
A case FIR No. 111/2025 u/s 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation is going on.
In another incident, a police team headed by incharge PP Mansar has foiled bovine smuggling attempt near Naka Mansar, arrested a lady bovine smuggler and rescued ten bovines which were being smuggled by foot.
The arrested lady bovine smuggler has been identified as Nagira Bano wife of Abdul Aziz of Talore district Samba.
A case FIR No. 112/2025 u/s 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation is going on.
