Police foils 2 bovine smuggling bids, rescues 11 animals

SAMBA, May 18: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has successfully foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba, arrested two bovine smugglers and rescued eleven bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers.
The vehicles used in the illegal transportation of bovines were also seized.
Acting on reliable information regarding smuggling of bovines in a Mahindra Bolero load carrier bearing Registration Number JK02CN-0704, a police team headed by SHO PS Samba successfully intercepted the said vehicle at Mananu for its checking.
During checking of the vehicle, six bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 143/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
In another bovine smuggling incident, a police team headed by Incharge PP Mansar has intercepted a load carrier Mahindra bearing Registration Number, JK21L-0245 at Naka Mansar and rescued five bovines which were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
The bovine smugglers identified as Shakeel Ahmed, son of Mohammad Anwar of Chani Mansar, Kakrai district Udhampur and Shabir Ahmed son of Jaleel Ahmed of Sumb district Samba have been arrested.
A case FIR No. 144/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
