Police foils 2 bovine smuggling bids, rescues 11 animals

SAMBA, May 3: Samba police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Stations (PS) Samba and Ghagwal and rescued 11 animals from the clutches of bovine smugglers. The vehicles used in the illegal transportation of bovines were also seized.
Police said its team headed by SHO PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at NHW, Naka Tapyal, stopped a Canter truck bearing Registration Number JK13H-2191 coming from Kathua side for its checking. During checking of the vehicle, seven bovines were found inside it which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
A case FIR No. 54/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Ghagwal and investigation started. In another bovine smuggling incident, a police team headed by in charge Police Post (PP) Supwal of PS Samba has intercepted a Mahindra Load carrier bearing Registration Number JK17-7590 near Nanak Chak and rescued four bovines which were being transported illegally.
