Police foil bovine smuggling bid in Samba’s Ghagwal

JAMMU, Nov 28: Police in Samba’s Ghagwal area today claimed they have foiled a bovine smuggling attempt by arresting a smuggler and rescuing four animals he was transporting illegally. A vehicle used in the illegal transportation of the animals has also been seized.
A police official said during routine vehicle checking duty at Tapyal, a Mahindra load carrier was intercepted by the police party of Police Station Ghagwal.
On search of the vehicle, he said, four animals crammed inside it in a cruel manner were freed by the police team.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Arshad Hussain of Chowadi, District Jammu, was arrested and booked in case FIR number 111/2025 under sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act registered at Police Station Ghagwal and further investigation taken up.
The rescue was made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
