RAJOURI, June 2: Continuing its sustained efforts against bovine smuggling, Rajouri police have successfully foiled three separate attempts to transport bovine animals illegally towards the Kashmir Valley and rescued a total of 19 milch animals.
In the first incident, the Police party from Peeri Police Post during naka at Prori Gujjran intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle (Registration No. JK11E-7928) coming from Mandir Galla towards Darhal. The vehicle was being driven by Abdul Kabir, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Prori Gujjran in Kotranka.
During checking the vehicle was found loaded with five bovine animals tied cruelly with ropes and being transported without any valid permission. A case FIR No. 60/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kandi under the relevant sections of law. The investigation is going on.
In a separate operation, the Police Party from Kandi during naka observed a person illegally carrying four (4) bovine animals on- foot towards the Kashmir Valley. The person later identified as Mohd Qasim, son of Messer Din resident of Keri Khawas fled the spot upon seeing the police party. The bovine animals were taken into custody by the police on the spot. In this regard a case FIR No. 62/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kandi and investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, police successfully intercepted a vehicle involved in the cruel and unlawful transportation of animals. In a specific incident, a police team from Police Station Manjakote, led by SHO Inspector Imran Khan under the supervision of SDPO Manjakote, Shahid Nahiem, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK12C-3157 near Ghambhir Mugalan, en-route to Surankote.
Upon inspection, 10 bovine animals were found being transported in an inhumane and illegal manner. The driver was promptly arrested and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Manjakote under FIR No. 45/2025, invoking Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act.
Rajouri Police reiterates its firm resolve to continue taking strict action against individuals involved in bovine smuggling and other unlawful practices.
