Srinagar, Aug 21: Police today said that it along with in collaboration with Excise & Revenue Department destroyed bhang cultivation under Bhang Destruction Programme in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police spokesman said the programme was launched during the current month from Dupatyar village of Bijbehara area in the district.
“Bhang plants spread over 500 kanals of land in different villages of district Anantnag have been destroyed in past three days. The areas included Thajiwara, Kanalwan, Krandigam villages of Police Station Bijbehara, Dirhama village of Police Station Sirigufwara and Adlash, Hapatnar villages of Police Station Ashmuqam,” the spokesman said.
He said that in addition, the joint team destroyed wild bhang plants grown up along National Highway from Uranhal to Sangam in the district.
