Police cracks theft case in Anantnag

Srinagar, Aug 11: Police in Anantnag today cracked a theft case reported from village Shatroo, Larnoo, leading to the recovery of stolen property.
Authorities stated that the accused, identified as Arif Ahmad Wani, son of Ab Khaliq Wani, resident of Shatroo, Larnoo, has also been arrested.
“Police Station Larnoo had received a written complaint from Meena Banoo, wife of Mohd Abass Wagay, resident of Shatroo, Larnoo, stating therein that on 09/08/2025, during mid day hours, an unknown individual had stolen her copper utensils from her residence,” police said.
Acting promptly police team successfully recovered the stolen copper utensils and arrested the accused. Meanwhile, police today arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A police team from Police Post Hardpanzoo, at a checkpoint established at Dasan village, intercepted and apprehended a motorcyclist riding a vehicle bearing registration number JK04B-7830. During the search, the police team recovered three sticks of charas-like substance, wrapped in corn straw, weighing approximately 60 grams from his possession.
He has been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah, resident of Hardu-Latina.
In Pulwama, a police team of Police Station Pulwama established a naka at Circular Road Pulwama and intercepted a suspected person namely Sajanbir Singh, son of Harbajan Singh, resident of Venke Lopoke, Amritsar, Punjab.
“During search, 3.5 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession,” following which the accused was arrested.
