Police crackdown on vehicles without ownership transfer in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Shopian police in south Kashmir today took legal action against 29 two-wheelers and 87 four-wheelers bearing registration number from other states for operating without completing mandatory ownership transfers after sale-purchase.
A police spokesperson said special teams were deployed across the district to identify vehicles in violation. “During the drive, several vehicles were found operating without proper ownership transfer and mandatory re-registration, in breach of the Motor Vehicles Act. Legal action has been initiated,” he said.
He added that the drive is part of an ongoing enforcement campaign targeting vehicles involved in similar violations. Vehicle owners were urged to complete ownership transfers and registration promptly, with the warning that non-compliance will invite strict legal action, “Similar drives are expected to continue in the coming days, “he said.
