UDHAMPUR, Apr 29: A Constable of J&K Police was knocked to death by an unidentified vehicle near Bikram bridge on the National Highway, here this morning at Rehambal.
The deceased was identified as Selection Grade Police Constable (SGCT), Sanjay Kumar Sharma (39), son of Hans Raj Sharma of village Kotle Bala Udhampur. He was presently posted at Crime Branch Jammu and had come to home only three days back. The accident took place this morning around 5:45 am when he had gone for a morning walk and an unidentified vehicle hit him. Police and locals shifted the injured to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead.
Rehambal Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a young girl attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at her residence at village Chnunata in Udhampur.
The girl, namely Saloni, was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred her to GMC Hospital Jammu. Cause of provocation could not be ascertained while Police has registered the case for further investigation.
