JAMMU, Dec 31: In order to bid farewell to Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar, a colourful function was organised by Police Headquarters (PHQ) at Officer’s Mess Gulshan Ground here.
On the occasion Chief Secretary B. R. Sharma presented a memento to Rajendra on behalf of all ranks of JKP.
ADGP (Headquarters) V.K. Singh, speaking on the occasion highlighted the professional achievements of Rajendra during his service. He described him a visionary Police Chief, who will be remembered for his leadership qualities and innovative measures.
Rubby Sharma and Bharti Vaid presented a memento to K Vijaya Rajendra on behalf of Police Wives Welfare Association.
Among others, the function was attended by CVC, Kuldeep Khoda, Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganai, FC Agriculture Production Deptt: Pramod Kumar Jain, Lt. Gen. Ashok Ambre, designate DGP, Dr. SP Vaid, Principal Secretary Home, R K Goyal, Addl. DG CRPF, SN. Srivastava, FC Revenue, Lokesh Dutt Jha, C/S to Finance Deptt:, Naveen Kumar Choudharty, VC CU, Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima, ADGPs, Dilbag Singh and AK Choudhary, other police and civil officers.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police held an impressive farewell parade at Police Sports Stadium Gulshan Ground here this afternoon.
Addressing the galaxy of officers and Jawans, Rajendra deliberated on his experiences during his 33 years career in Jammu and Kashmir Police. He said that he has always been proud to be a member of JKP and has tried his best to serve the people of the State through the Organization. He disclosed that JKP by the dint of its valour and courage has succeeded to tackle various situations from time to time and the valour of our jawans and officers is being discussed at national level also, which is a great achievement for the Organization. “Sacrifices of more than 1500 jawans and officers of the force and the people’s whole hearted cooperation encouraged the force to meet the challenges with fortitude”, he said.
He said that good police public relations at the grass root level encouraged the force to tackle the law and order situations effectively and restore developmental activities including tourist flow and educational activities.
Rajendra referred his efforts to strengthen the Organization during his tenure as DGP and said that all components of the force were focussed upon and basic facilities up-graded, besides raising manpower and building infrastructure. He said that all the training institutions have been upgraded and more 17000 personnel acquainted with latest techniques of policing and investigation. Revision of welfare measures for the welfare of personnel and their families, up-gradation of police hospitals in twin capital cities and police public schools are the areas which were focussed during the years, said Rajendra.
Earlier, Additional Director General of Police (Security/Armed), Dilbag Singh, while commenting on the contribution made by Rajendra said that he has worked on different assignments in the Organization in the State and has always come up to the aspiration of the department. He proved himself a sincere and dedicated officer in the service of the public and the Organization feels proud for working under the leadership of Rajendra, he added.
