JAMMU, Dec 12: Police in Jammu’s Gangyal area today claimed to have busted a major drug network by arresting five individuals and recovering 340 grams of heroin worth several lakhs from their possession.
During routine naka checking at Purmandal Morh, a police team, headed by PSI Ashish Razdan and supervised by SP City South Ajay Sharma, SDPO City South Kuljit Singh, and SHO Gangyal Sanjeev Chib, intercepted a Swift car (JK08C-8781) moving hurriedly, a police official said.
On search of the occupants of the vehicle, later identified as Imam Hussain of Belicharana, Manshu Khan of Camp Gole Gujral Kheriya, and Mushtaq Ali, Farooq Mohammad, and Mohammad Manshu, all residents of Arnia, 340 grams of heroin was recovered, he said.
A digital weighing machine was also seized from the possession of the accused, he said.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 126/2025 under sections 8, 21, 22, 27(A) and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation has been set into the motion, added the police official.
