POONCH, Dec 21: The Police has registered an FIR against village Numberdar and some others from Ari area, for attack on the police party led by SHO Gursai and Magistrate (Naib tehsildar) while the villagers held protest and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about two hours.
Official sources said that today police registered a case FIR No. 222/ 2017, under Sections 341, 353, 157, 336 and 332 RPC against a local leader Abdul Aziz for inciting public, eight other identified villagers and some others ( unknown accused persons) for attack on police party last evening at Ari when the police was assisting civil administration in shifting a drilling machine to some other location in Mendhar. These villagers resorted to stone pelting and also used lathis to attack police. SHO Sanjay Gupta and four other Constables were injured besides half a dozen other villagers during clash.
Today, the villagers came out on the road and raised barricades disrupting movement of traffic for about two hours. They kept two injured girls on the cot on the road during protest and alleged that they were beaten up by cops. At around 12 noon the SDM and Tehsildar Mendhar along with some policemen reached the spot and they pacified the people. They also directed shifting of girls to hospital for treatment. Later, the people allowed the movement of traffic on the road. The police said that raids were being conducted to arrest the accused who have gone underground.
