Police attaches property of drug peddler

Srinagar, May 23: Police in Anantnag today attached immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the NDPS Act.
According to authorities, the attached property includes a double-storey residential house with an attic and 32 marlas of land located at Gund Bagh, Seer Hamdan, Mattan.
The property is owned by Zubair Ramzan Ganie, son of Mohd Ramzan Ganie, a resident of Gund Bagh, Seer Hamdan, who, according to police, is currently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah, Jammu, under preventive detention as per the provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
“The individual is involved in FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act & 48 Excise Act, registered at Police Station Mattan,” police said.
Police said that the property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of investigation and enquiry conducted by Police Station Mattan.
“It was prima facie established that the property had been raised through proceeds of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.”
Meanwhile, police today arrested two drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore, recovering contraband substances from their possession.
Authorities stated that a police party of Police Station Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Main Road Tikker near Radio Station Kupwara, arrested a drug peddler identified as Shahzad Ahmad Shiekh son of Bashir Ahmad Shiekh resident of Kupwara.
“During search, a substantial amount of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking for petty monetary gains.”
In Sopore, a Police team arrested a drug peddler at Chankan Sopore, checkpoint.
He has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Fafu son of Abdul Rasheed Fafu, resident of Nowhaman Sopore, according to police.
“During search, 12 strips (96 capsules) of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned psychotropic substance, were recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at respective Police Stations and investigations have been initiated.”
