SRINAGAR, Feb 14: Police today attached a residential property worth over Rs 26 lakh in Shopian district, alleging it was acquired through the proceeds of the illegal drug trade.
Police said the attached property is a single-storey residential house valued at Rs 26,56,008, with a plinth area of 1,392 square feet, situated under Survey No. 44min.
The house belongs to Sartaj Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Memander, Shopian.
According to police, the property was identified as having been purchased using money generated from the sale of illegal drugs and narcotics.
The accused, police said, has previously been involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including FIR No. 20/2021 and 49/2021 registered at Police Station Shopian.
The attachment was carried out by a duly constituted police team in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, Lambardar and Chowkidar, in compliance with legal procedures, police said.
