Srinagar, Dec 1: Police in Kulgam today solved a fatal hit-and-run case within two hours of the incident by arresting the driver involved.
Officials said that acting swiftly, police obtained and analysed CCTV footage through which the vehicle-a white Mahindra Bolero (JK03L-9171)-was identified.
The vehicle was subsequently seized, police said.
The driver, identified as Sheikh Burhan Tariq, son of Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Qazigund (21), has been arrested “and further legal proceedings under relevant sections of law are underway.”
Earlier, a road accident at Nipora, Mirbazar, left Abdul Ahad Khanday, son of Abdul Khaliq Khanday (87), a resident of Nipora Mirbazar, critically injured after being hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road. He was shifted to GMC Anantnag, where doctors declared him brought dead.
