SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Police today arrested a bootlegger and seized 11 bottles of whisky from his possession in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police spokesperson said that during naka checking at Reshnagri, a police team intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag. “The man tried to flee but was apprehended. A search led to the recovery of 11 bottles of whisky (750 ml each),” he said.
The accused, identified as Alyas Ahmad Bhat of Reshnagri, has been booked under FIR No. 50/2025 of the Excise Act at Police Station Heerpora, the spokesperson added.23
