SAMBA, Feb 1: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers and drug peddlers, Samba police has arrested three drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Vijaypur and PS Ramgarh and recovered approximately 14.65 grams and 8.59 grams of heroin from their possession.
A police spokesman said acting on information received from reliable sources, a police team of Police Station, Vijaypur intercepted two pedestrians near Shiv Nagar Vijaypur under suspicious circumstances. The duo was coming from Rakh Barotian and moving towards Vijaypur. During frisking, approximately 14.65 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of both the persons.
He said the drug peddler identified as Mohammed Hussain Sheikh, son of Mohd Siraj Sheikh of Vardhman Rajapur (West Bengal) and Mohammed Ali Sheikh, son of Shams Uddin Sheikh of Gutiyar Sharif district Howrah (West Bengal) both presently residing at Teli Basti, Bari Brahmana have been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized.
Spokesman said a case FIR No 22/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.
Spokesman said meanwhile Police Station Ramgarh has arrested a drug peddler in its jurisdiction and recovered approximately 8.59 grams of heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
He said a team of Police Station (PS) Ramgarh during vehicle checking naka at Tarapur road, intercepted a pedestrian under suspicious circumstances who was coming from Rakh Barotian and moving towards Gudwal. During frisking, approximately 8.59 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from his possession.
He said the drug peddler identified as Sunil Singh, son of Jagdev Singh of Kotli Jijaan, tehsil Tikri district Udhampur has been arrested and contraband item has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 05/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Ramgarh and investigation started, spokesman added.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas.
