Police arrests 2 drug peddlers, seizes 8.5 grams of heroin

KATHUA, June 29: In continuation to its drive against the drug dealings in the area, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today recovered 8.5grams of heroin like contraband in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Kathua and two drug peddlers were arrested in connection with it.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kumar under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar while on naka checking duty at Kathua apprehended one suspicious person. On thorough checking approximately 5.5grams of heroin like contraband was recovered from the possession of accused namely Lakshman Dass, son of Nek Ram of Chak Drab Khan, Kathua.
Meanwhile, in another case team of PS Kathua apprehended another suspect namely Kiran Kumari wife of Rupesh Kumar of Chak Drab Khan Kathua. On frisking three grams of heroin like contraband was recovered thus by making a total of 8.5grams recovered from both.
Thereafter all the recovered material was seized and both the persons involved were arrested.
Two different cases vide FIR No.311/2021 and 312/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kathua and further investigation into the case started.
