JAMMU, Sept 6: State president of BJP and Member Parliament from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma has said that displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) would get justice shortly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a large number of DPs during a meeting organised by SOS International, an organization of displaced persons from PoK, the BJP Member Parliament, who was chief guest at the function, said that BJP was serious for the one time settlement of PoK DPs and their package is being finalized shortly. He said during his 12 years tenure in the State Assembly and now in the Union Parliament he has always raised this issue strongly and entire BJP leadership from the State is vigorously pursuing their case with the Union Government.
Referring to the plight of DPs, Mr Sharma said it is sad to note that PoK DPs have not been rehabilitated for the last 68 years and fact of the matter is that all the successive Governments have shown their apathy towards the problems of PoK DPs. He assured that BJP is committed to solve the grievances of PoK DPs although, it is true that some time is being taken to implement the package but it will be executed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Sharma maintained.
“I would like to assure you that justice will be provided to PoK DPs as they deserve immediate relief package in a time bound manner” he added.
Earlier, SOS International chairman, Rajiv Chunni, in his welcome address highlighted the plight of displaced persons and threw light on the recent developments with regard to the efforts of his organization. He expressed anguish over the delay being caused on the implementation of the one time settlement package.
He claimed that with the unconditional support of PoK DPs, Jugal Kishore Sharma won LoK Sabha election. The DPs with a great hope of getting-rid of their miseries supported BJP but more than 15 months have been over, the settlement package of PoK DPs is still hanging in balance. It is ironical that for the last almost 7 decades J&K State Cabinet which met thousands time during this period considered our plight for two times only, first time in 1954 and then after the gap of sixty years in 2014 that too, for our temporary rehabilitation only. The decisions taken first time in the cabinet in 1954 is not properly implemented so far and the 2nd decision of the State Cabinet in 2014 is still an illusion.
Prof Narinder Singh, Dr Gurmeet Singh, J S Mangal, Roshan Lal, refugee leaders, Sushil Gupta from Kathua and Subash Jandial also addressed the gathering.
