PoJK Youth Forum holds ‘Sankalp Divas’, reiterates 1994 Parliament resolution

JAMMU, Feb 22: PoJK Youth Forum of Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samity, New Delhi, in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Forum, today organized “Sankalp Divas & PoJK Youth Sammelan” at the Speaker Hall of the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi, recalling the unanimous resolution on Pakistan-occupied J&K passed by the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994.
The resolution declares Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India, asserts the country’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and calls upon Pakistan to vacate the areas under its occupation.
The programme was presided over by Renu Bhatia, chairperson, Haryana Women Commission, while Leader of Opposition in the J&K Vidhan Sabha, Sunil Kumar Sharma, was the chief guest. Prafulla Ketkar, Editor, Organiser, attended as the guest of honour.
On the occasion, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Registrar General (Retired), Delhi High Court, and Justice (Retired) Vidhya Bhushan Gupta of Delhi High Court-both victims of the 1947 displacement from Mirpur and patrons of Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samity-were honoured with shawls as distinguished guests. Film producer Vir Kapur, known for the film “Shatak” based on 100 years of RSS, was also honoured.
Shubham Gupta, convenor, PoJK Youth Forum, outlined the Forum’s future programmes and urged youth from POJK to join and strengthen the platform.
Speakers highlighted the events of 1947, alleging large-scale killings, atrocities and displacement of Hindus and Sikhs from the region, and stressed that the territory under Pakistan’s control remains under illegal occupation. They reiterated that India has the capability and resolve to reclaim the area.
Dr Sudesh Ratan, president, Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Samity, presented the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the recital of ‘Vande Mataram’.
