JAMMU, June 23: A delegation of all J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum under the leadership of its president Advocate Amrik Singh called on Commissioner Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department Ajit Kumar Sahu at Kud in district Udhampur who visited there under the Back to Village Scheme.
The deputation presented a memorandum to him highlighting the scarcity of drinking water in the area and the hardships being faced by the residents on account of the same. The deputation also informed him deteriorating condition of Mall road which was constructed by then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayed.
The Commissioner assured to solve the problems. Surjit Singh general secretary of the Forum, Krishan Lal ex Sarpanch, Kuldeep Raj Sarpanch, Urmil Dhar, Darshan Singh, M K Ganju, ex Chief Engineer, Satinder Singh and others were in the delegation.
Later the Forum held a meeting under the chairmanship of Advocate Amrik Singh in which the demands of PoJK refugees were discussed. The meeting demanded grant of reservation to the Sikh community under the revised process of J&K delimitation. It demanded out of 24 seats eight seats be reserved for PoJK Sharnarthis of 1947 and out of which four seats be reserved for J&K Sikh community. It further demanded that three seats be kept for Sikh community of Jammu region while one seat be kept for community members of Kashmir Valley.
It demanded scholarships for the minority Sikh students in the State and alleged that all the funds meant for minorities are transferred to Kashmir Valley while the minorities of Jammu region have to suffer.
The Forum extended full support to Governor of the State in his mission to eradicate corruption.
