JAMMU, Nov 27: Kotli Balidan Diwas was observed today at Vyas Ashram, Haridwar.
Arun Chowdhary, general secretary PoJK Bisthapit Sewa Samiti J&K presided over the function.
A large number of displaced families from PoJK participated in the function and paid tributes to their ancestors who sacrificed their lives in the 1947 conflict in Kotli region.
Participants performed Yajna and observed a two minutes silence for peace to the departed souls. Speakers recalled that in 1947, thousands of people in Kotli and several other regions of PoJK laid their lives for the nation.
The displaced families present at the ceremony collectively pledged to reclaim their sacred land that was snatched from them.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Chowdhary urged the Government of India that PoJK should be brought back at the earliest.
“We should be given the opportunity to resettle in our sacred motherland,” he maintained.
Romesh Gupta, Dr. Pratibha Purandhi and Subhash Gupta stressed on the importance of passing on the legacy of this day of sacrifice to the younger generation so that these chapters of history are never forgotten.
The ceremony concluded with the recitation of National Anthem.
