PNBMT holds meeting with temple committees

JAMMU, Sept 24: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) today organised a meeting of the heads of various temple committees of Kashmir at Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, (SSK) Bohri.
The gathering was convened to review the progress on the temple land data forms initiative, monitor records concerning temple properties in Kashmir, and deliberate on other developmental issues related to the management and preservation of temples.
The proceedings were conducted by Sundri Lal Koul, secretary of PNBMT, who also presented a comprehensive overview of the prevailing socio-political situation and its impact on the community’s efforts for safeguarding temples and shrines.
In his address, Shadi Lal Koul Rais, general secretary of PNBMT, underscored the urgent need to upgrade and complete the temple land data forms at the earliest. He further shared details about the forthcoming Amateur Journalist Award function, a flagship initiative of the Trust to encourage young voices in community journalism.
The meeting was presided over by Moti Lal Malla, senior community leader, who in his presidential address called upon the members to remain steadfast in their commitment and continue struggle with patience and dedication.
Leaders of various temple committees actively participated in the deliberations, putting forth valuable proposals for the early passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Bagati, general secretary, Panun Kashmir, highlighted the importance of addressing bottlenecks in the legislative process. He urged for continuous engagement with political leaders and policymakers to ensure the long-pending passage of the bill.
Kashmiri Lal and Kuldeep Raina representing the Trust gave insights on the ongoing efforts. Dr. Ramesh Bhat and Prof. M.K. Bharat provided broader perspectives on the issues at hand.
Prominent leaders and members of the temple committees who spoke on the occasion included J.L. Pandit, P.N. Raina, Bushan Lal Hangloo, S. Bhat, Bharat Bhushan Raina, Sharun Kumar Koul, Mohit, S.K. Kandroo, Sohan Lal Reshi, Ramesh Bhatt, Dilip Pandita, Piary Lal Bhat, Rakesh Bhat, among others.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve to intensify community efforts for the protection, preservation, and restoration of temples and shrines in Kashmir, and to persist in the advocacy for the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill.
