PM urged to sanction ‘Employment Package’ for Batwal youth

JAMMU, Aug 23:  The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its meeting at village Chack Lal Din here today for discussing  various issues.
During the meeting, Batwal community students, who  are studying in higher classes, informed that their scholarships for the year 2013-14 have not so far been released  to them by the Social Welfare Department and therefore they were not  in a position to buy costly books and meet their other day to day expenses.
The Association urged the Minister for Social Welfare Department Bali Bhagat to look into the matter and ensure release of the pending scholarships of SC students at its earliest convenience.
On the other hand, the community’s unemployed youth also told the meeting that despite being highly educated, they were  hankering for Government  job which was  being denied to them by the recruiting agencies.
Association president and former MLA Sat Paul Lakhotra urged the Prime Minister of India to sanction an ‘Employment Package’ in favour of the Batwal community on the basis of survey report of its Ethnographic Study undertaken by the Central Planning Commission in the year 1994. If the said package is sanctioned it will help in the development of the community, he added.
The Association expressed concerns over inaction of the ministry of HRD on its series of representations forwarded by the President’s Secretariat, New Delhi.
On the occasion, Social Leader Jaggo Ram was also remembered and it was resolved to celebrate his Day on August 30, .2015 in the Community Facility Hall at Shahzadpur.
Association election commissioner Ramesh Kumar Kaith announced that the election of various offices of the Association would be held at Shahzadpur on September 19 , 2015.  He said the persons interested to contest may fill up their nomination forms before August 30.
Earlier,  the newly elected chairman of the Association Subedar Major (Retd) Romesh Sargotra took oath of his office.
