NEW DELHI, Jan 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute more than 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela on January 24, 2026, reinforcing the government’s push for large-scale employment generation.
The Prime Minister will also address the appointees during the event, which will be held at 11 am through video conferencing, according to an official government release issued on Friday.
The Rozgar Mela, a flagship initiative aimed at fast-tracking recruitment across government departments, will be organised simultaneously at 45 locations across the country. Candidates selected from all parts of India will be inducted into a wide range of Ministries and Departments, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services, and the Department of Higher Education, among others.
“In line with the Prime Minister’s commitment to accord the highest priority to employment generation, the Rozgar Mela has emerged as a key initiative to translate this vision into action,” the release said. It added that the event is designed to provide meaningful opportunities to the youth and strengthen the delivery capacity of government institutions.
Prime Minister Modi is expected to highlight the role of young professionals in nation-building and public service. “The government is focused on creating opportunities that empower the youth and enable them to contribute actively to India’s growth story,” he said, according to the release.
Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela initiative, more than 11 lakh recruitment letters have been issued across the country, marking one of the largest coordinated recruitment drives undertaken by the union government.
Officials said the programme reflects a sustained effort to fill vacancies in a time-bound manner while ensuring transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process.
The latest round of appointments is expected to further bolster manpower across critical sectors and underscore the government’s emphasis on employment as a central pillar of economic and social development.
