NEW DELHI, Feb 24: Greeting people on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he was a great humanist and social reformer who dedicated his life in spreading the values of equality, universal brotherhood and tolerance.
In his message, Singh said, “Let us today re-affirm our commitment to the noble values and ideals that were so dear to Guru Ravidas.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar also greeted countrymen on the occasion.
In her message, she said, “Guru Ravidas raised his voice against the social system discriminating between the upper and lower castes. Even though it was a gentle call to bring about social revolution, it was imbued with self-respect, splendour of eternal truth and firm belief.” (PTI)
