JAMMU, Sept 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today received a distinguished Sikh delegation that presented recommendations regarding the safekeeping and befitting display of the immensely sacred and invaluable holy ‘Jore Sahib’ of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.
The delegation, led by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, included senior BJP leader from Jammu and Kashmir & MLA RS Pura (Jammu) Narinder Singh, along with several other eminent members of the Sikh community.
During the meeting, Puri informed the Prime Minister that his family had been immensely blessed and fortunate to perform ‘seva’ of these holy relics since the time they were bestowed upon their ancestors by Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji over 300 years ago. He also submitted to the Prime Minister the recommendations of a committee comprising eminent members of the Sikh Sangat for the safekeeping and dignified display of the sacred ‘Jore Sahib’.
Acknowledging the significance of the relics, the Prime Minister emphasized that the holy ‘Jore Sahib’ is not only an integral part of the glorious Sikh history but also deeply rooted in the cultural ethos of the nation. He underlined that such sacred relics hold immense spiritual importance and will serve as a guiding force for generations to come.
“The holy relics will inspire future generations to follow the path of courage, righteousness, justice and social harmony shown by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji,” Modi remarked, in response to Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Expressing happiness at receiving the Sikh delegation, the Prime Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment towards ensuring the preservation and respectful display of the relics, underscoring their role as a timeless symbol of Sikh heritage and national cultural identity.
MLA Narinder Singh said he felt deeply honoured to be part of the delegation that presented recommendations to the Prime Minister on the preservation and dignified display of the sacred and invaluable holy ‘Jore Sahib’ of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.
