NEW DELHI, Dec 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday strongly condemned a terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, where at least 12 people were killed and 29 others injured during a Jewish Hanukkah celebration.
“Strongly condemn the ghastly terrorist attack carried out today at Bondi Beach, Australia, targeting people celebrating the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
“On behalf of the people of India, I extend my sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the people of Australia in this hour of grief,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi reiterated India’s stance on terrorism, saying, “India has zero tolerance towards terrorism and supports the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism.”
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also condemned the attack, saying, “Condemn in the strongest term the terror attack on Hanukkah celebrations in Bondi beach, Australia. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
Australian authorities have declared the incident a terrorist attack, with one gunman killed and another in critical condition. The attack has sparked widespread condemnation and solidarity from world leaders.(UNI)
