JOHANNESBURG, July 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India’s friendship with Russia is deep-rooted and both the countries will continue working together in multiple sectors.
After bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit here, Prime Minister Modi tweeted – “Wide-ranging and productive talks with President Putin. India’s friendship with Russia is deep-rooted and our countries will continue working together in multiple sectors”.
Mr Modi had last met President Putin during an informal meeting in May in Sochi in Russia. The two leaders also met in China on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Qingdao in June.
In a missive on micro blogging site, MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar wrote: “Never too late! Last bilateral meeting of the day, between PM Narendra Modi & Russian President Putin got over at midnight local time. Both leaders had a comprehensive discussion on bilateral issues of mutual interest, specially in trade and investment, energy, defence and tourism”.
Mr Modi also held bilateral meetings with President Jo?o Louren?o of Angola and also Argentina
President Mauricio Macri.
“Angola is a valued friend from Africa. My interaction with President Jo?o Louren?o was comprehensive. We discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly trade as well as people-to-people ties,” Mr Modi tweeted.
MEA spokesman said both the leaders discussed intensifying relations in trade and investment, agriculture and food processing, pharma, oil and natural gas.
“Had a great discussion with President @mauriciomacri. We reviewed the full range of relations between India and Argentina. Our nations will continue working together in various sectors, for the benefit of our citizens,” Prime Minister tweeted after his interaction President of Argentina.
