JAMMU, Nov 15: Aggrieved plot owners of housing societies under J&K Government Cooperative Department have demanded allocation of their plots to them on urgent basis.
In a press conference here today, these plot owners including, Amit Sharma, Anil Dhar, Sanjay Ganjoo and others urged the J&K Government to take necessary action in this regard.
They said that more than 5000 plot owners are under distress and disappointment due to an extremely long delay of up to 20 years in getting physical possession of the plots for which full amount has been paid to a J&K Government promoted Cooperative Housing Corporations.
“The two Cooperative Housing Corporations include J&K Cooperative Housing Corporation Ltd and J&K Cooperative Tourism and Housing Development Corporation Ltd and both these Cooperative Housing Corporations have invited applications for different housing projects at different times from 2010 onwards,” they maintained adding that the projects included Baran Valley Mega City, Panchvati, Bajalta, BB Enclave, Kot Green Valley, Swaran Vihar, Kud etc.
Anil Dhar said though the allotment of plot was done on papers but the physical possession is still pending.
“We have been doing a regular follow up with the Corporation but unfortunately the physical possession is still pending. Now we come to know that these colonies fall under Gair Mukim Khad zone due to which construction in such areas is not permitted under the present rules,” said Amit Sharma.
He further said that they were not communicated this formally by the Corporation.
“In some earlier projects which these corporations have developed and where plots have been physically allotted the registration is not happening due to some legal issue,” Sharma maintained.
He further said that in some cases the allotment letter was issued after 12 years of applying while in some cases the allotment letter is yet to be issued.
“We want the Government of J&K to take cognizance of this and initiate early action to resolve the matter,” Sharma said.
