SRINAGAR, Apr 6: The plaque of Shaheed Ghulam Jeelani, Assistant Commandant of C/157 Battalion of CRPF was installed at Hanfia Model School, Peernia in Baramulla during a function organized today in school premises.
The function was attended by Tayoub Shah, Principal of the School along with staff and students. The occasion was graced by Vinay Kumar Tiwari, Commandant 53 Battalion CRPF along with unit officers. JKP officials along with media persons also attended the event.
On the occasion, eatables were distributed among the school children. During interaction with the school children, teachers and the Principal, the Commandant assured to provide basic study materials for the school and also sports items for the students. The commandant also told the Principal that the unit will organize sports meet and other competitions for the school students.
Speaking on Shaheed Ghulam Jeelani, the Commandant told that Shaheed Jeelani was born on April 7, 1989 to Ghulam Mohammed Khan in village Manzgam of Baramulla district and studied upto 5th standard in Hanifa Model School, Peernia.
“After completion of graduation, he joined the elite force CRPF on June 3, 2014 through UPSC and dedicated his life to the nation by serving in different parts of the country. The officer shown gallant action on December 31, 2018 at Sinjani, district Khunti of Jharkhand, and laid his life fighting gallantly in LWE with the Maoists,” the officer added.
